Andrew was born and raised in Orange County, California. Being the youngest with two older sisters, and having very loving and supportive parents, he developed an acute sense of empathy, listening and concern for others. These traits have served him well throughout his professional career in sales and customer service. He has a passion for helping others in all aspects of work and community life.
Andrew serves as board Treasurer for two non-profit organizations in Anacortes. In addition, he volunteers as a youth mentor for the Anacortes Family Center. His personal hobbies include playing guitar, banjo, and harmonica with his folk-rock band The Enthusiasts. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, cooking, traveling, volleyball and surfing (on the rare occasion there are waves that make it all the way down the strait).
Andrew studied Philosophy at California State University, graduated with Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees. During graduate school he was given an opportunity to learn the mortgage business. He now has 17 years’ experience in mortgage finance, and looks to expand his knowledge in wealth management and financial planning.
What was your first job?
When I got my driver’s license in high school I inherited (and still own) an old Ford Econoline surf van. I got a job at the local Baskin Robbins 31 Flavor Ice Cream store making minimum wage to pay for insurance and gas to the beach. It was fun and stressful and taught me all kinds of lessons about human nature. I still love ice cream.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico. Small pueblo town 45 miles north of Puerta Vallarta, right on the coast surrounded by jungle. This location has a mellow vibe with great surfing waves and beautiful beaches, fewer tourists and more local families taking holiday together. To me it’s a perfect combination of exposure to culture, natural beauty, and relaxation. I feel so fortunate to be able to visit such a place.
What part of Barrett Financial makes you most excited?
After working closely with Pat and Amy and on their client’s mortgage needs, I’ve seen their holistic approach to financial planning. I’m reminded that all aspects of life have a financial component, and the idea of helping clients with financial wisdom and intention at all levels is very exciting.
