Barrett Financial Sponsors Annual Sports Physicals Night for Anacortes Students

ANACORTES, Wash. — Barrett Financial is returning as presenting sponsor of the 2026 SABA Sports Physicals Night, which provides affordable sports physicals for student-athletes across Anacortes for the 2026-27 school year.

The annual event, organized in partnership with Island Health, Island Optometry, and Seahawk Athletic Booster Association (SABA), will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the Anacortes Middle School Commons.

Each year, about 150 middle and high school students participate in the event, which offers sports physicals at a reduced cost of $40 and makes scholarships available so that no student is turned away. The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association requires student-athletes to complete a physical every two years to participate in school athletics.

“At Barrett Financial, we believe strong communities are built by investing in people early and removing barriers where we can,” said Amy Hong, the firm’s owner. “Taking part in sports creates confidence, connection, and discipline for young people. We’re proud to support an event that helps make those opportunities more accessible for local families.”

For many families, the event provides more than a required form for athletics. It creates access to preventive healthcare, early identification of potential health concerns, and an opportunity for students to participate in sports without additional financial strain.

The event is staffed by volunteer physicians from Island Health, along with nurses, medical assistants, physical therapists and community volunteers.
